Radiology

We utilize digital radiography to assist in diagnosing your pet. We also have a digital dental radiography machine to help us diagnose dental specific contitions. Dental radiographs are performed under anesthesia only, usually during a dental procedure.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a light therapy that is used to treat a variety of conditions. We have used it to treat wounds, arthritis, infections, gingivitis, swelling/edema, IVDD (disc disease), aural hematomas, and we use it to treat every incision post-operative.

Surgery

Some of our surgical services include: routine spays and neuters, lump removals, wounds, foreign body removal, gastropexy, dentistry.

Before any surgical procedure we perform pre-operative testing to ensure your pet is in great shape to undergo anesthesia.

All of our patients get a tailored anesthetic protocol based on age, underlying conditions, and results from pre-operative testing

All of our patients are monitored from the beginning to the end of their surgical procedure by one of our well trained technicians.

Your pets health and safety are our top priority!

Acupuncture

Dr. Scire attended Chi University for their acupuncture program. Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) has 4 main components, one of which is acupuncture. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles, into specific points on the body, to achieve a therapeutic effect. There are 173 points in animals. Although this is considered eastern medicine, modern studies have found that acupoints are located in the areas of the body with high density of nerve endings and lymphatic vessels. Studies also indicate that stimulation of these points induces the release of endorphins, serotonin, and other neurotransmitters. Acupuncture is very safe and most treatments take under 30 minutes. The entire visit is 1 hour so that we can do a full TCVM exam. A TCVM exam consists of in depth questions about your pets behavior, personality, and preferences as well as physical characteristics. Results can vary from immediate to taking several treatments, depending on the patient and conditions being treated. Acupuncture isn't painful and does not require sedation. Most pets, after their initial visit, rather enjoy it. Studies have shown acupuncture can provide pain relief, promote healing, help with gastrointestinal disorders, and have anti-inflammatory effects. Acupuncture is recommended for musculoskeletal problems, neurologic disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, chronic conditions, and in hospice patients who are unable to receive other treatments or medications. Sometimes acupuncture is combined with the use of TCVM herbs to increase efficacy. Dr. Scire is also currently undergoing training for TCVM dietary food therapy. We hope to offer this service in the future.

Dr. Scire began her education at Florida Southern College where she minored in both chemistry and psychology, and majored in biology.
